The SEC Professionals Group is an informal community of professionals who actively prepare and file financial reports with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The purpose of the community is to foster communication between members on matters of common professional interest. This www.SECprofessionals.org website is available exclusively for use by members of this community.

The SEC Professionals Group Community Moderator

Joseph Howell is the organizer and community moderator for the SEC Professionals Group and the www.SECprofessionals.org website.  

Joe has served as CFO of three public companies - EMusic.com (NASDAQ: EMUS), Merix Corporation (NASDAQ: MERX) and Borland Software (NASDAQ: BORL), and as CFO of several pre-public companies.  As CFO, Joe lead multiple public offerings, private placements and M&A transactions, as well as the IPO for EMusic.com.  

Joe is a co-founder and currently serves as Managing Director for WebFilings LLC, a provider of web-based tools to draft, EDGARize, tag (XBRL) and file documents with the SEC. Joe previously worked with the SEC Professionals Group through his position as Managing Director for Financial Intelligence, LLC. Joe is a CPA (inactive) and an alum of Arthur Andersen & Co. He earned a BA from the University of Michigan and an MS in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University.
