Q: What is the purpose of the group?
A: The SEC Professionals Group is an informal community of professionals who actively prepare and file financial reports with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The purpose of the community is to foster communication between members on matters of common professional interest.
Q: Who is eligible to participate?
A: Membership in the SEC Professionals Group is intended to be a privilege that is exclusive to those who actively prepare and file financial reports with the SEC.
Q: What is the cost?
A: There is no cost for membership or to participate in the meetings.
Q: How are the meetings organized?
A: The Group meets quarterly to discuss a range of issues, including XBRL, IFRS, communications from the SEC, performance of service providers, and specific accounting and reporting issues suggested by the members. All conversations are off-the-record and remain within the Group. Member companies frequently send two or more people to the meetings (in person or by telephone). Unless invited to participate by the Group, auditors, consultants and others are not invited to participate in the meetings. These quarterly meetings generally last approximately 90 minutes
Q: May I participate remotely?
A: Yes. We provide a conference call-in number for those who are unable to participate in person. We encourage you to participate in person, if possible.
