Chapter Notes

Dear Boston Chapter Members,

A quick reminder that the Q2 2019 quarterly meeting is scheduled on Tuesday, May 21st at 11:45am.  Our friends at Selecta Biosciences have graciously agreed to host the meeting.  Selecta is located at 480 Arsenal Way, Watertown, MA  02472

This quarter’s topic is the month-end close, a topic relevant to all of us.  In addition to the content, this is a great opportunity to network with your peers, earn one hour of CPE and step away from the office.  Bring your colleagues.

We encourage you to register in advance at http://www.secprofessionals.org/.  Participants will be eligible for 1 hour of CPE.  There is no cost to attend and lunch will be provided.  Thank you to our members who have already registered.

The success of the SEC Professionals Boston Chapter is because of you and your participation, for which we are grateful.  We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, May 21st.

Warm regards,

Joseph DiMartino

Boston Chapter Chair

Month-End Close

The struggle to achieve both speed and accuracy in the financial close process can be challenging. Major stakeholders want the information as fast as possible, but they also need data they can trust. Those working on the close may feel as if they're in a catch-22: pushed to work faster, but with no errors. During this meeting, members will share how they improved the efficiency and effectiveness of their close process by improving internal communications and leveraging technology.

After this meeting, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify pain points in their financial close process
  • Explain tactics or methods other members used to improve their financial close process
  • Determine ways to leverage technology to simplify and expedite the financial close process
  • Develop performance metrics to evaluate your close process

Panelists

  • Trish Coughlin, Chief Accounting Officer, Cornerstone OnDemand
  • Eric Greene, Senior Manager of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting, ZAGG
  • Alexander Hume, Corporate Controller, Zions Bancorporation
  • Jonathan Johnson, President, Medici Ventures, Inc.
